Happy New Year!

We have really enjoyed reuniting with old friends this year. Between spending Thanksgiving and Christmas in Utah and Wyoming we almost felt like we never moved. To all of those friends we missed or have lost contact with -- Keep in Touch!! Combining old friends and New Years, how could one not quote Burns' wonderful poem? (for modern English click here) (btw, for those David O. McKay fans out there (mom), McKay wrote an essay on Burns, who was his favorite poet) So come on by Grand Junction, we'll have a few pints and talk a gude-willie-waught.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind ?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and auld lang syne ?

CHORUS
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

And surely ye’ll be your pint-stoup! And surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet, for auld lang syne.

We twa hae run about the braes, and pou’d the gowans fine;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit, sin’ auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl’d in the burn, frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d sin’ auld lang syne.

And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere! And gies a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll tak a right gude-willie-waught, for auld lang syne.

I've been thinking about this song and wondering what it meant, so thank you for the English translation.

Wish we could have seen you over Christmas.
