Grandma!
Isaac finally met his Great Grandma Rammell. While Diana was taking pictures, I stole jewelry (which I later pawned). Babies are a great distraction!Sunday, August 12, 2007
Utah...again
We spent another
weekend in Northern Utah,

catching up with family and old friends. Isaac met his Great Grandma Rammell for the first time. He also made it to South Weber days to enjoy hamburgers grilled by the fire department, the traditional candy drop and fireworks. On Saturday afternoon, I took my brothers rock climbing. It felt good to get back into a harness and chalk up my hands. It was the first time I had been climbing since before law school - this may be a shock but there is not a lot of rock climbing in Nebraska!

No Duh

I am a little worried about parents who think that TV can be good for kids...

Grand Mesa
We just found out about Grand Mesa - a national forest just 45 minutes from our house, right here in the middle of the desert. We spent the night at Spruce Grove and hiked the Upper Loop of Crag Crest, about 7.5 miles after our detours. We ran into some unexpected rain so instead of hiking the lower loop we hitchhiked back to our car. Luckily we got a ride from a nice stranger. It was great to get back into the forest, hike around backcountry mountain lakes and see the stars.

The Bar
After a few tortuous months, the bar exam is behind us. I spent the week previous to the exam at a monastery in Huntsville, Utah. Between Mass in the morning and the Abbott's blessing at night, how could I possibly fail? I loved taking long walks and talking to the monks. Most have PhD's in Philosophy and are happy to share their wisdom. Plus, the smog from countless forest fires made for some great pictures.
